37. First Negro Officer to be Decorated. Lieut. Robert C. Allen of the 372nd Infantry was mentioned in Army orders and awarded Distinguished Service Cross for gallantry in action. His home is in Springfield, Ohio.

38. Lieut. Robert L. Campbell. Company L, 368th U. S. Infintry, awarded the Distinguished Service Ciss by order of General Pershing for bravery in fighting in the Argonne Forest.
