We are pleased to announce the schedule and format for the 2005 A. Dean Larsen Book Collecting Conference, sponsored by the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Department in the Harold B. Lee Library. It will occur this year on November 3 and 4. The agenda for Thursday, November 3 consists of a Pre-Conference workshop conducted by Mark Pollei, Head Conservator for the Harold B. Lee Library. He will teach participants in the workshop the art of marbling paper. On November 4 we are offering seven different seminars that will inform, educate, and hopefully tempt you to participate with us.
As you may observe, in this year as we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Smith, we are participating in that celebration with three of our seminars. In addition, we have a wonderful selection of topics ranging from the days of early 16th century printing of astronomy books to the reading life of Victorian men and women in 19th century England. Just a note: the seminar on Don Quixote focuses on the major exhibition that will be in place in Special Collections when you come on November 4.
So, this year's conference promises to be an exhilarating and informative experience. And the best news of all, is that the cost of registration this year is a bit lower than last year. All in all, we are working hard to present the best conference possible. Please come and join us on November 3 and 4.
