William Greenwood, 1822-1891
Letter to Greenwood's family dated October 17, 1847
William Greenwood joined the LDS Church in 1840 and was promptly banished from his home in Burnley, Lancashire, England. He emigrated to the United States in 1842, married in 1843 and moved to Nauvoo in 1845. He left Nauvoo in 1846 and arrived in Utah in October 1847. The Library owns 13 handwritten letters penned by William Greenwood. The letter displayed tells of his 1847 trek to the "Great Bason."
