Welcome to World War I Document Archive's Letters Collection
This collection of World War One era letters and postcards was made possible
by the generosity of many collectors.
Any collector's comments regarding either the form or the content of
the letter will follow the transcribed text.
If the index lists an 'image' after the name of the sender, a scan of
the original is available for display.

If you have letters or postcards from the WWI era, and would like to
see them included in this archive, please contact Dr.
A.J. Plotke.
- Text should be transcribed and converted into an ASCII text
file.
- Notes about the item, (sender, background, etc.) should be included
after the transcribed contents. The notes should also include the collector/owner's
name.
- Image: If possible, the postcard or interesting feature of the
letter should be scanned and included. For postcards, both front and back
are good to have. For letters, a scan of an interesting feature, such as
the signature, censors marks, officers's marks, etc. are good to include.
A scan of the entire text of a letter is not usually necessary. --- For
best results, scan at 72 dpi, scale at 100%, saved in GIF format.
