Policies & Guidelines
All art exhibitions must be approved by the Art in the Library Committee, whose primary role is to coordinate exhibitions by BYU Visual Arts students and faculty, or visiting artists invited by the Committee and the BYU Dept. of Visual Arts. The Committee exercises curatorial discretion and will determine if proposed exhibitions are appropriate for the library setting.
Proposals must be submitted at least 2 months before the exhibition opening date. The Committee will coordinate all art exhibitions with the Lee Library Exhibits Committee, which also oversees other library exhibits and events.
After approval from the Art in the Library Committee, the artist will be contacted and expected to work with the Committee regarding the schedule and design of the exhibition. Installation and dismounting of exhibitions are the responsibility of the artist. The library provides assistance.
The Lee Library will provide:
- hanging materials and pedestals for exhibits
- assistance in hanging the exhibits
- publicity poster for the library (exhibition posters are property of the Lee Library)
Exhibitions may be cancelled or removed if they do not conform to this policy statement.
