Policies & Guidelines

All art exhibitions must be approved by the Art in the Library Committee, whose primary role is to coordinate exhibitions by BYU Visual Arts students and faculty, or visiting artists invited by the Committee and the BYU Dept. of Visual Arts. The Committee exercises curatorial discretion and will determine if proposed exhibition is appropriate for the library setting.

Proposals must be submitted at least 2 months before the exhibition opening date, and will be evaluated by the Committee. The Committee will coordinate all art exhibitions with the Lee Library Exhibits Committee, which oversees other library exhibits and events.

After approval from the Art in the Library Committee, the artist will be contacted and expected to work with the Committee regarding the schedule and design of the exhibition. Mounting and dismounting of exhibitions is the responsibility of the artist. The library provides assistance.

The Lee Library will provide hanging materials and pedestals for exhibits, assistance in hanging the exhibits, and will create a poster for the exhibits. The exhibition posters are property of the Lee Library.

Exhibitions may be cancelled or removed if they do not conform to this policy statement.
